Kaanapali Hillside is the non-gated portion of the greater neighborhood also know as "The Hillside" which consists of Kaanapali Golf Estates, The Pinnacle, The Summit and Lanikeha being the gated and double gated neighborhoods. A little confusing for sure especially when you consider the entire Hillside also consists of of several condominiums and townhome subdivisions, including The Masters, Summit, Vintage, Kaanapali Plantation, International Colony Club and Kaanapali Royal Estates.
Bottom line? The Hillside offers an excellent selection of real estate options to choose from and arguable the best weather pattern on Maui. The close access to both South and North Kaanapali Beaches (voted Best in the World many times!) and offers the perfect combination of expansive ocean views and views of Mauna Kahalawai, also known as the West Maui Mountains. Although it's "unofficial" you CAN access the West Maui Mountains from this neighborhood for excellent hiking, mountain biking and even dirt biking. Just don't say anything to Maui Land and Pine!
