Living in Kahului
Kahului sits right next to Wailuku, and together the two towns are the civic and commercial heart of Maui. You're a few minutes from the airport, Queen Kaahumanu Center and the Maui Mall, and close to Kanaha Beach Park, one of the best windsurfing and kitesurfing spots on the island. Kanaha Pond State Wildlife Sanctuary, the Maui Arts and Cultural Center and, nearby in Puunene, the Alexander and Baldwin Sugar Museum are all part of everyday life here.
Real estate in Kahului and Wailuku is more moderately priced than the resort areas, and many homes have views of the ocean or the mountains. If the everyday conveniences of a larger town matter to you, and you still want to be central to the beaches and Upcountry, Kahului is worth a close look.
