Relax and enjoy its well-planned modern design, generous living spaces and sought-after features such as private yards and garages. Hoonnea is a place to truly enjoy the relaxed Maui lifestyle.
Completed around 2013, Hoonnea at Lahaina is a community of newly constructed townhomes offering privacy with spacious floor plans up to almost 1,400 square feet. Many have a single car garage, deeded parking and a private yard. Outside enjoy an oversized lanai to relax, entertain and keep your favorite tropical plants. Plus, it is a great place for your pet, even larger dogs. And, maintenance fees are some of the lowest on Maui.
Ho'onanea at Lahaina is a well thought out planned community across the street from the Lahaina Gateway center and within walking distance or a short drive to Cannery Mall. Both have easy access to banks, shops, gas stations, restaurants, drug stores, and the beach. Much of historic Lahaina Town was destroyed in the August 2023 wildfire and is rebuilding, so ask us what's open nearby today. In seconds, you can be on the Lahaina bypass heading south to Kihei, Kahului and beautiful ocean scenery all along the way. Right up the hill there is easy access from the bypass to Lahaina elementary, middle, and high schools.
Hoonanea is at the center of it all in Lahaina and an easy drive north to famous Kaanapali beaches, Whalers Village, and many beach parks for picnics, snorkeling, scuba, fishing and all the other fun stuff to do at the beach.
Lahaina was the capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom in the 19th century and a busy whaling port that even Herman Melville visited. The August 2023 wildfire destroyed much of the historic town, including the Pioneer Inn and many Front Street landmarks. The famous banyan tree survived and is regrowing, and Lahaina is in a long rebuild.
Hoonanea is one of best neighborhood townhouse developments in Maui. It is great for families living and working on Maui, retirees looking for a chance to relax but still enjoy a vibrant community. Ho'onanea is in Lahaina, across from the Lahaina Gateway center. This is a NOT a Maui Vacation Rental, but one of the best LONG TERM properties to own or rent in the West Side of Maui. It is also one of the few pet friendly condos on the Maui Real Estate Market.
In my most recent visit to the property, I spoke with one of the owners. She has lived their ever since it was first constructed. I asked her "What's your favorite aspect of living at Ho'onanea" Her answer was twofold. #1 The very close proximity to everything in Lahaina. #2 The fact you can walk your dog in all over the property. In other words, the HOA is pretty relaxed and they don't force you to only walk your dog in the "dog park"
She also indicated that having your own garage and a small area in your driveway for the little kids to ride their bikes and play with Dad when he comes home from work was HUGE. As you have likely noticed, many complexes in West Maui don't have a garage, or even covered parking. And since we all know Lahaina means "Cruel Sun" a little shade for your car during the day goes a long way. Better yet, a closed garage door and place to store your ocean toys is even better. Or as we say in Hawaii - "MO BETTAH!"
