About Kaanapali Shores
Kaanapali Shores emerged in the 1980s at the northern end of Kaanapali, pairing individual condo ownership with resort amenities and professional hospitality management.
Like Kaanapali Shores, the other Maui hotel-zoned properties on our list keep their short-term rental use under hotel zoning.
The resort sits at 3445 Lower Honoapiilani Road on about 10.1 acres (TMK 2-4-4-001-097). It was built in 1980 with two buildings nine stories high and seven floor plans, from studios of about 507 square feet and one bedrooms of about 717 to 853 square feet up to two bedroom, two bath units of about 964 to 1,507 square feet. Most units face the ocean, and the ones toward the back see more of the West Maui Mountains.
Owners like that so much is wrapped into one monthly fee, which has historically included central air conditioning, utilities, cable and owner parking. Units have full kitchens and washer and dryer. The grounds have a garden pool with a waterfall, a large hot tub, an oceanfront lap pool and a second spa, tennis and pickleball courts, BBQ areas, a poolside restaurant and bar, a small store, a gym and a spa.
The beach in front of Kaanapali Shores is smaller than the main Kaanapali strand and, depending on tides and swell, the water can reach the protective wall. A short walk south there's a wider beach that runs toward Black Rock and Whalers Village. Groceries, restaurants and shops are across the street.
